On Sunday, David Crosby hit a jogger while driving his car at 55 mph in the rural ranch area around Santa Ynez, Calif., where he lives. The jogger's injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Crosby was driving his black 2015 Tesla sedan a little before 6 p.m. when he struck the man, Jose Jimenez, who was jogging with his 14-year-old son at the time on the right side of the roadway, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. Crosby was headed towards the sun and claimed not to see Jimenez. He stopped his car immediately at the scene, checked on the Jimenez's condition and was cooperative with CHP investigators.

The 46-year-old Jimenez was airlifted by helicopter for treatment at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, about 30 miles away.

The Crosby, Stills & Nash member was driving the speed limit and was not impaired; drugs and alcohol were not a factor, according to the police report. Crosby was not injured in the accident.

According to a CHP spokesperson, this case remains under investigation but it is not expected they will file any charges against Crosby.

In California, pedestrians, including joggers, outside of a business or residential area, are required to be on the left side of the roadway. This does not relieve a driver from exercising due caution for the safety of any pedestrian upon a roadway, said the spokesperson.

"David Crosby is obviously very upset that he accidentally hit anyone," said a rep for Crosby. "And, based off of initial reports, he is relieved that the injuries to the gentleman were not life threatening. He wishes the jogger a very speedy recovery."
