Black Keys Cancel More Dates as Patrick Carney Recovers From Injury:

The Black Keys have canceled their upcoming performances in Australia, New Zealand and Japan, since drummer Patrick Carney has experienced a setback in his recovery from a dislocated and broken shoulder. The duo previously nixed the European leg of their Turn Blue tour, which was scheduled for February and March after Carney sustained the injury while swimming off the island of Saint-Barthélemy on January 3rd. Like the European trek, the Australasian tour's 12 dates have been cancelled because "efforts to reschedule the original dates were unsuccessful." The band hopes to be back on the road in May.

"Working with the doctors, surgeons and physiotherapists since January, we had expected Patrick to be ready to return to touring in April," the duo wrote in a statement. "The recovery process and physical therapy has taken longer than anticipated, and unfortunately Patrick is still unable to perform and needs additional time to heal. We thank all of our fans for their ongoing support and we look forward to getting back on the road as soon as possible."

Billboard reports that Carney's post-op shoulder became infected during rehabilitation. On March 13th, Carney Instagrammed a photo of himself back in the hospital for unspecified reasons. The Black Keys add that Carney should be healed by the end of April and that they're aiming to go back on the road by May 28th, which kicks off a string of major summer music festival dates for the band, including slots at Barcelona's Primavera, Cincinnati's Bunbury, New York's Governors Ball and Mountain Jam fests and a gig at the U.K.'s Isle of Wight Festival.
